Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Finnish universities of applied sciences accept a completed Leaving Certificate that gives you entry to higher education in Ireland. No Finnish body sets minimum Leaving Cert grades, subjects or Higher/Ordinary levels, and your CAO points are not converted. In the joint application, applicants are ranked by the online International UAS Exam (23 March 2027) rather than on school results. Metropolia’s programme page states no specific maths requirement, but expect maths and physics in the technology section of the exam.
  • English: every applicant must prove their English, either with a recognised test or with previous studies taught in English, by 28 January 2027. The Leaving Cert certificate does not state the teaching language, so get a letter from your school. Gaelscoil students should expect to need IELTS or TOEFL.
