About the course

A four-year (240 ECTS) Bachelor of Engineering in robotics, taught in English at Metropolia’s Myyrmäki campus in Vantaa. Metropolia runs it as a blended programme designed so studies can be combined with work, rather than as standard day-time study.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Finland accepts a completed Leaving Certificate if it gives you entry to higher education in Ireland. No Finnish body sets minimum Leaving Cert grades, subjects or Higher/Ordinary levels, and CAO points are not converted. Confirm with Metropolia admissions.
  • The programme page does not say how school leavers are selected in the January 2027 joint application. At universities of applied sciences this is usually the International UAS Exam (23 March 2027), which is not based on school grades. Confirm on Studyinfo.fi.
  • English: universities of applied sciences accept an upper secondary qualification completed in English in an EU/EEA country, or IELTS Academic 6.0 or TOEFL iBT (minimum shown on uasinfo.fi). Proof is due by 28 January 2027. Ask your school for a letter confirming your Leaving Cert studies were in English. Gaelscoil students should expect to need IELTS or TOEFL.

How to apply

  1. Check Studyinfo.fiFrom December 2026, open the programme’s Studyinfo.fi entry (linked from the Metropolia page) and confirm which round and selection method suits you.
  2. Apply on Studyinfo.fiSubmit your application in the joint application, 7 to 21 January 2027 (closes 15:00 Finnish time).
  3. Prove your EnglishUpload your English proof (school letter or IELTS/TOEFL) by 28 January 2027.
  4. Sit the selection examIf the programme uses the International UAS Exam, take it online on 23 March 2027. Offers to school leavers are conditional on your final Leaving Cert results.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Apply in Finland’s spring joint application on Studyinfo.fi, 7 January 2027 (08:00) to 21 January 2027 (15:00 Finnish time), for studies starting in autumn 2027. Proof of English is due by 28 January 2027 (15:00 Finnish time). A separate international application (SAT/ACT, GMAT/GRE or credit transfer based) also runs from 1 December 2026 to 31 March 2027. Check Studyinfo.fi for the selection method in the joint application..

Costs

  • No tuition fees for EU/EEA citizens. Metropolia’s tuition fee (11,500 euro a year for studies starting after 31 July 2027) and the 100 euro application fee apply only to non-EU/EEA applicants.
This is a blended degree designed to fit around work, so expect less on-campus day-time teaching than a standard programme. Metropolia also offers it through a separate international application (1 December 2026 to 31 March 2027) based on SAT/ACT, GMAT/GRE or credit transfer.
