About the course

A 240 ECTS engineering degree taught in English at the Linnanmaa campus, with a focus on web development. It covers software, web and mobile application technologies and IoT, built on maths, physics and databases. Teaching includes real projects with local companies and user-experience work, with options for exchange or a double degree.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Finland accepts a school qualification that gives access to higher education in the country where it was awarded, so a completed Leaving Certificate should count. No Finnish body sets minimum Leaving Cert grades, subjects or Higher/Ordinary levels, and CAO points are not converted. Oamk publishes nothing Leaving Cert-specific, so confirm with admissions@oamk.fi.
  • The Leaving Cert is not one of the certificates used for Oamk’s certificate-based selection (Finnish matriculation, IB, EB, RP/DIA). Irish applicants are therefore normally ranked on the online International UAS Exam (30 places in 2026) or on SAT scores (minimum 400 in each section, 5 places).
  • English: all applicants, including native speakers, must prove their English before the exam. UASinfo accepts upper secondary schooling from an EU/EEA country if it was taught and assessed entirely in English and the language is clearly shown on your documents. Get a school letter confirming this. Otherwise you need a test such as IELTS Academic 6.0 or TOEFL iBT (60 for tests before 21 Jan 2026, 3.5 on the new scale after that). Gaelscoil students should expect to need a test.

How to apply

  1. Check the 2027 criteriaFrom late autumn 2026, read Oamk’s joint application admission criteria for this programme and the exact January 2027 dates on Studyinfo.fi.
  2. Get proof of EnglishAsk your school for a letter confirming you were taught and assessed entirely in English, or book IELTS or TOEFL. Upload it by 28 January 2027.
  3. Apply on StudyinfoSubmit your application on Studyinfo.fi during the January 2027 joint application.
  4. Sit the entrance examTake the online International UAS Exam on 23 March 2027, or send SAT scores (by the SAT deadline, 30 March in 2026) if you use that route.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Leaving Cert holders apply through the Finnish joint application on Studyinfo.fi in January. For the 2026 intake this ran 7–21 January 2026, and the exact January 2027 dates are not yet published. UASinfo confirms that proof of English must be uploaded by 28 January 2027 at 15:00 Finnish time. The online International UAS Exam is on 23 March 2027. Oamk’s autumn separate application for this programme is only for SAT holders and applicants from certain non-Irish countries..

Costs

  • No tuition for EU/EEA citizens, including Irish students. Oamk charges tuition only to students from outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland. Applying through Studyinfo is free.
Your Leaving Cert points are not used to rank you. You will usually compete through the International UAS Exam, so prepare for it. Check Oamk’s certificate deadline against Leaving Cert results day.
