About the course

A 210-credit hospitality management degree taught in English on the Pori campus, covering tourism and hospitality management. It includes a 30-credit practical training period, which you can do after first year, usually during the summer breaks.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Finnish universities of applied sciences accept a completed Leaving Certificate if it gives you entry to higher education in Ireland. No Finnish body sets minimum Leaving Cert grades or Higher/Ordinary Level subjects, and your CAO points are not converted. Confirm with SAMK admissions.
  • How places are awarded: SAMK selects by certificates, the International UAS Exam or SAT scores. Certificate-based selection at Finnish universities of applied sciences mostly covers the Finnish matriculation exam and a few international diplomas, so a Leaving Cert applicant is normally ranked by the online International UAS Exam (23 March 2027) or by the SAT. SAMK has a SAT quota: the minimum is 800 total, with at least 400 in each section, and SAMK’s SAT code is 7516.
  • English: you must prove your English even if it is your first language. An upper-secondary qualification completed entirely in English in an EU/EEA country counts, so get a letter from your school confirming this. Otherwise you need one of the tests listed on uasinfo.fi, for example IELTS Academic 6.0, PTE Academic 55 or Cambridge English 169. Only the listed tests are accepted. Gaelscoil students should expect to need a test.

How to apply

  1. Pick your ranking routeChoose the International UAS Exam (online, 23 March 2027) or the SAT (minimum 800, with 400 per section, code 7516). If you choose the SAT, book it in autumn 2026.
  2. Apply on Studyinfo.fiSubmit the joint application between 7 and 21 January 2027. You can list up to six study options.
  3. Send proof of EnglishIf you are using the exam route, upload your school letter or accepted test result by 28 January 2027 at 15:00 Finnish time. Then sit the online exam on 23 March 2027.
  4. Sort out your Leaving CertAsk SAMK how to meet the final-certificate deadline (early July in 2026), since Leaving Cert results come out in late August.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: For an August 2027 start, apply in the Studyinfo.fi joint application from 7 to 21 January 2027. SAMK also runs a separate application on the same dates, and further separate rounds from 2 to 9 April 2027 and from 23 to 30 June 2027 if places remain. If you apply using the International UAS Exam, your proof of English must be uploaded by 28 January 2027 at 15:00 Finnish time, and the online exam is on 23 March 2027. The autumn round (31 Aug to 10 Sep 2026) is for a January 2027 start. The CSS Nepal partner round is not for Irish applicants. Final school certificates are normally due in early July (9 July in 2026), which is before Leaving Cert results come out, so ask SAMK how Leaving Cert 2027 students can meet it..

Costs

  • No tuition for EU/EEA citizens, including Irish citizens. SAMK charges fees to non-EU/EEA students only (EUR 9,500 a year for this programme). You still pay your own living costs in Finland.
Tuition is free for Irish students, but your Leaving Cert results do not rank you. You compete through the International UAS Exam or SAT scores. The January 2027 round is the one for an August 2027 start. Check with SAMK how the early-July certificate deadline works with Leaving Cert results.
