About the course

A practical, career-focused circus degree at the arts academy of a university of applied sciences, taught in English in Tilburg. You train circus technique and develop your own performance work.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • The institution assesses the Irish Leaving Certificate individually and does not publish a fixed Irish requirement. Contact admissions to confirm.
  • Audition required: an online pre-selection with video material (deadline 5 April 2027), then a live audition in Tilburg (18 to 20 May 2027).
  • No specific school subjects are required. Proof of English is needed. Applicants aged 17 or over without an eligible diploma can take the Fontys 21+ assessment test.

  1. Register in StudielinkApply for the programme in Studielink from 1 October 2026, by the 1 April deadline.
  2. Pre-selection videosUpload your video material on your Fontys admission page by 5 April 2027.
  3. Live auditionIf selected, attend the live audition in Tilburg from 18 to 20 May 2027.
  4. Decision and documentsFontys informs you of the result and checks your Leaving Cert results, diploma and proof of English. Introduction week is 30 August to 3 September 2027; the programme starts on 6 September 2027.

Costs

  • Standard Dutch EU fee: €2,694 (2026/27). The 2027/28 fee is set by the Dutch government each year (expected to be close to €2,800).
  • EU students may be eligible for a Dutch tuition-fee loan (DUO).
Selective course: you need to pass the pre-selection and a live audition to get a place.
