About the course

A practical, career-focused engineering degree taught in English in the Nexus building on the TU/e campus in Eindhoven. It covers electronics, programming and maths through project work, with specialisations in electronic systems, embedded systems or innovation engineering in year four.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • The institution assesses the Irish Leaving Certificate individually and does not publish a fixed Irish requirement. Contact admissions to confirm.
  • Maths required: your certificate must show satisfactory grades in mathematics (Dutch equivalent: HAVO/VWO Mathematics A or B). Fontys does not publish a specific Leaving Cert level or grade. Physics is not listed as a required subject.

How to apply

  1. Register in StudielinkApply for the programme in Studielink by 1 May 2027 (September start).
  2. Upload documentsSubmit your Leaving Cert results, diploma and proof of English through the Fontys portal.
  3. Admission decisionFontys checks your maths results and other documents, then confirms whether you are admissible.
  4. Pay and enrolArrange tuition fee payment, apply for housing by 15 June, and attend the introduction week (30 August to 3 September 2027). Classes start on 6 September 2027.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: 1 May 2027 for Dutch/EEA applicants for the September 2027 start (1 June for international students). There is also a February intake (Dutch/EEA deadline 31 January)..

Costs

  • Standard Dutch EU fee: €2,694 (2026/27). The 2027/28 fee is set by the Dutch government each year (expected to be close to €2,800).
  • EU students may be eligible for a Dutch tuition-fee loan (DUO).
Open-entry course: if you meet the requirements, you get a place. Fontys offers maths and physics preparation courses, but they are taught only in Dutch.
