About the course

Teaches you to develop a product step by step from concept to production, combining design, technology and business, with live projects for real clients and the option of an internship or minor abroad in year 3. It is a practical, career-focused degree at a university of applied sciences.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • The institution assesses the Irish Leaving Certificate individually and does not publish a fixed Irish requirement. Contact admissions to confirm.
  • No maths or physics requirement is spelled out on the English programme page; as a technical programme, ask Fontys whether they expect maths and physics in your Leaving Cert.
  • A minimum level of English is required; check with Fontys whether your Leaving Certificate English exempts you from a test.

How to apply

  1. Apply on StudielinkRegister and choose Industrial Design Engineering (Venlo) on Studielink by 1 June 2027.
  2. Upload documentsFontys emails you asking for your Leaving Cert results, transcripts and any English evidence. Diploma validation can take up to three weeks.
  3. Book housingIf you want Fontys-arranged housing, apply by 15 June 2027. Housing is limited and not guaranteed.
  4. Admission and enrolmentOnce admitted, pay the tuition fee and complete enrolment before the September 2027 start.

Costs

  • Standard Dutch EU fee: €2,694 (2026/27). The 2027/28 fee is set by the Dutch government each year (expected to be close to €2,800).
  • EU students may be eligible for a Dutch tuition-fee loan (DUO).
