About the course

A four-year state-approved (Bac+4, 240 ECTS) management degree in hospitality, restaurant and wine and beverage management. Years 1 and 2 are a common core and include two work placements of at least 12 weeks each, plus practical work in the school’s training hotels and restaurants. In Year 3 you choose a major (hospitality, restaurant management, or wine and beverage) and spend a semester abroad. Year 4 is one of six specialisations and ends with a six-month placement. The course is offered fully in English or in French/English.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Institut Lyfe says overseas applicants need a qualification officially recognised as equivalent to the French baccalaureate. It publishes no specific rules for the Irish Leaving Certificate, such as required subjects, Higher Level subjects or H grades. France has no national rule on Leaving Cert subjects or grades, so each programme selects on its own terms. Confirm with the admissions office (candidature@institutlyfe.com) how your Leaving Cert will be assessed.
  • Selection: an 80-question multiple-choice test covering general knowledge, business knowledge, maths calculations, logic, grammar and spelling, plus an English test for the English track. This is followed by a 20–30 minute individual interview about your motivation and plans. For the English track the interview is in English. No specific maths level is stated.
  • English: the school does not ask for an English certificate. English is tested in its own admission test and interview. The school advises choosing the English track only if your English is strong. The school sets an upper age limit of 26 for applicants.

  4. Confirm and enrolIf you are admitted, complete enrolment for the September 2027 start. Make sure you get your final Leaving Cert results to the school. Apply early for accommodation, as the school has a student residence and housing partners.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Applicants with a foreign school-leaving qualification such as the Leaving Cert apply directly on the Institut Lyfe website, not through Parcoursup. For the 2026 cycle the school’s deadline was 31 May 2026. The 2027 date had not been published when we checked, so confirm it with the admissions office. After an eligibility check you are invited to a selection session. Applicants living abroad take the written tests remotely. The course starts in September 2027..

Costs

  • Institut Lyfe is a private school and charges tuition, but it does not publish its fees on its website. You get the current fees by filling in the ‘Request info and fees’ form. An application fee is also charged. Ask for both figures in writing before you apply. The school says Institut Lyfe Foundation scholarships can cover part of the tuition. It says international students are generally not eligible for French CROUS grants.
This is a private school with a four-year Bac+4 degree, not a free public licence. It does not publish its tuition fees online, so get the current fee in writing before you apply. The school was called Institut Paul Bocuse until 2023 and is now Institut Lyfe.
