About the course

A five-year (10-semester) integrated master’s in pharmacy taught in English, open only to foreign nationals from EU and non-EU countries and accredited by the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education. Lab work runs throughout; semester 9 includes a mandatory internship, and semester 10 is practical training in a community or hospital pharmacy alongside the diploma thesis.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • The university assesses the Irish Leaving Certificate individually and does not publish a fixed Irish requirement. Contact admissions to confirm. As a guide, the published benchmarks include A-Levels AAB in Chemistry, Biology and Physics, or IB 36 points with two of Physics, Chemistry and Biology at Higher Level.
  • No entrance exam. Selection is based on your application file, and eligible candidates may be invited to a video interview.
  • English: TOEFL 80/120, IELTS 6.5 overall (at least 5.5 in each component) or Cambridge First (FCE) at B2. Native English speakers and graduates of English-medium schools are exempt.

Working in Ireland afterwards

A pharmacy degree from an EU/EEA member state that fully meets the Directive 2005/36/EC minimum training requirements (Article 44) can be recognised automatically. If you started your studies before the Directive’s reference date, you also need 3 consecutive years of professional experience within the last 5 years. Recognition is step one and PSI registration is step two: recognition alone does not let you practise, and you must also prove competence in English. EU law allows countries to limit EU-qualified pharmacists from running newly opened pharmacies, and we could not confirm on the PSI website whether Ireland does this. If you plan to be the supervising or superintendent pharmacist in a pharmacy, check with the PSI.

How to apply

  1. Check eligibilityEmail mpharm@pharm.uoa.gr to ask how your Leaving Certificate subjects and predicted grades will be assessed, and about the Early Admission Program. Chemistry, Biology and Physics are the subjects asked for under other systems.
  2. Prepare documentsGather your ID or passport, final two years’ school transcripts in the original language with an official English translation, English certificate (if needed) and reference letters on letterhead. Documents need an Apostille.
  3. Apply onlineSubmit your application on the MPHARMNKUA platform and email the apostilled documents with your Application ID. Admissions are rolling, so apply early.
  4. Interview and depositYou may be invited to a video interview. If you get an offer, pay the EUR 3,000 deposit by the deadline in your offer letter to secure your place.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Admissions are processed on a rolling basis and no fixed deadline is published. The site currently shows applications open for September 2026 and advises applying promptly to secure a place. An Early Admission Program is mentioned (contact the department for details). Eligible candidates may be invited to a video interview. Dates for September 2027 entry have not yet been published..

Costs

  • EUR 9,000 a year for 2026/27, the same for EU and non-EU students, so EU students pay the full fee. After an offer you pay a EUR 3,000 non-refundable deposit, deducted from first-year fees; the remaining EUR 6,000 is paid in early September and mid-January. In later years you pay EUR 4,500 in September and EUR 4,500 in January. The deposit is refunded only if a conditional offer is withdrawn because you miss your predicted grades, or if visa problems prevent you enrolling. No application fee is published.
A pharmacy degree from an EU/EEA country that fully meets the Directive 2005/36/EC minimum training requirements (Article 44) can be recognised automatically, but you must then register with the PSI and prove competence in English. If you plan to be the supervising or superintendent pharmacist in a pharmacy, check with the PSI.
