About the course

A six-year integrated programme (360 ECTS) that leads to the Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and is taught in English, with a strong focus on clinical training. There is one intake a year, in the winter semester starting in October.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • The university assesses the Irish Leaving Certificate individually and does not publish a fixed Irish requirement. Contact admissions to confirm. The general rule is at least four years of secondary education, with Biology, Chemistry and Physics each studied for at least two years. A secondary school diploma from abroad must be recognised in Croatia, and the Faculty directs applicants to the Agency for Science and Higher Education (AZVO, applications@azvo.hr). Secondary school grades make up 20% of the final score.
  • Entrance exam: 120 multiple-choice questions (40 each in Biology, Chemistry and Physics), worth 60% of the final score, plus a psychomotor ability test worth 20%. You need at least 30% overall. You can be exempted from the entrance exam with an MCAT score of at least 125 in each section, a BMAT score above 4.0 in all categories, a MediTest-EU score above 70%, a completed premedical college, or a BA/BSc in natural sciences with good credits in Biology, Physics and Chemistry.
  • English: a proficiency certificate is required. The Faculty accepts TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge or Oxford exams, B2-level certificates from language schools, or an English proficiency certificate from your secondary school. It does not publish a minimum score.

Working in Ireland afterwards

A dental degree from an EU member state that is listed in the EU Professional Qualifications Directive (2005/36/EC, as amended) can be recognised automatically by the Dental Council of Ireland. To get this, you provide a certificate from your home country’s competent authority confirming the degree meets the Directive’s minimum training conditions, plus proof of English-language proficiency. EU dental degrees that do not qualify for automatic recognition may instead be assessed under the Directive.
