About the course

An integrated ten-semester (300 ECTS) programme leading straight from school to a Master of Science in Architectural Engineering (Dipl. Ing. Arch.), combining technical and structural training (including BIM) with design studios, architectural history and an 8 to 12 week internship. From year 4 students choose Real Estate Development, Sustainable Architecture or Urban Design.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Hungary has no Leaving Cert points conversion for English-taught degrees. BME asks for a completed secondary school qualification and uses its own online admission test. BME publishes nothing specific on the Leaving Certificate, so confirm with BME admissions that it is accepted.
  • BME recommends mathematics and/or physics at school, and applicants must pass the online e-admission test. The programme page does not describe a drawing test or portfolio, so check the test content with the faculty. BME’s Preparatory Course is listed as not available for this programme.
  • English at B2 level is required, for example IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 72, Cambridge B2 First 160 or Duolingo 100. BME also accepts a medium-of-instruction certificate, so ask your school for one and check with admissions that it covers your case.

How to apply

  1. Check the programmeRead the BME Architectural Engineering single-cycle page; note it is a 5-year integrated master’s, not a bachelor’s.
  2. Prepare documentsGather Leaving Cert results, CV, passport copy and proof of English at B2 level, and ask the faculty if anything else (such as design work) is needed.
  3. Apply and payApply through the BME e-admission portal during the spring window (1 April to 15 May in 2026) and upload proof of the 150 euro application fee.
  4. Sit the admission testComplete the online e-admission test; sample tests are available in the e-admission system.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: For September 2026 entry the fee-paying application period was 1 April to 15 May 2026. Dates for September 2027 entry had not been published at the time of checking; expect a similar spring window and confirm on the BME admission pages..

Costs

  • EU students pay 3,607 euro (1,312,000 HUF) per semester, about 7,214 euro a year, in 2026/27. BME’s table lists a lower non-EU fee of 3,200 euro per semester. BME says fees may vary from year to year. There is also a non-refundable 150 euro application fee.
This is a 5-year single-cycle master’s with no separate bachelor’s stage, and there is no preparatory year for it, so you need to pass the admission test directly. Check what the qualification means for architect registration in Ireland before committing.
