About the course

A 7-semester (210 ECTS) English-taught degree built on mathematics, physics and computer science, then covering digital and control engineering, signals and systems, electromagnetic fields, electronics and measurement, with specialisations in Embedded and Control Systems, Infocommunication or Sustainable Electric Energetics. It includes a 6-week internship and a thesis.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Hungary has no Leaving Cert points conversion for English-taught degrees. The Leaving Cert normally meets the school-leaving requirement, but this programme asks for a secondary school certificate with a grade of at least 70%. BME does not say how it converts Leaving Cert grades (H1-H8), so confirm with admissions whether your results meet this.
  • You must pass BME’s online e-admission entrance test in Mathematics and Physics after your documents are pre-evaluated. Applicants with weak foundations may be directed to the one-year preparatory course first. Strong Higher Level Maths and Physics preparation will help.
  • English at B2 level: IELTS 5.5, Cambridge FCE 160, TOEFL iBT 72, PTE 50, Duolingo 100, or a Medium of Instruction certificate. You must be 18 by enrolment.

Costs

  • EU students pay EUR 2,250 per semester, so EUR 4,500 a year (2026/27 rate; non-EU students pay EUR 3,200 per semester). BME says fees may change from year to year. There is a non-refundable application fee of EUR 150.
The EU fee here (EUR 2,250 a semester) is about double BME’s civil and mechanical rates, and the programme asks for a school result of at least 70% plus a Maths and Physics entrance test.
