About the course

A four-year (8-semester, 240 ECTS) English-taught bachelor’s degree in hotel and hospitality management, event planning, travel organisation and destination management, with an internship in Budapest. Graduates qualify as an ‘Economist in Tourism and Catering’ (BSc in Economics). The programme is accredited by the Institute of Hospitality.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • You need a completed secondary school-leaving qualification (‘High school / secondary education’), so the Leaving Certificate is the entry qualification. There is no published Leaving Cert points conversion and no minimum grades are listed; ask BUEB admissions how your H1-H8 / O1-O8 grades will be assessed.
  • The course page does not mention an entrance exam, interview or maths requirement.
  • English proficiency is required, but no minimum level or accepted test is published for this course. Ask BUEB whether Leaving Cert English is accepted as proof or whether a test such as IELTS is needed.

Expect a similar deadline for 2027, but check the portal (apply.uni-bge.hu) when applications open, usually around November. You apply on the university’s own portal, not through felvi.hu..

Costs

  • The university’s programme page lists the EU tuition fee as HUF 690,000 per semester (about HUF 1,380,000, roughly €3,500, a year; the euro amount changes with the exchange rate). The application portal shows a flat €3,000 per semester and a one-time €150 application fee. This is NOT a tuition-free course. These are the current (2026/27 cycle) figures; check the fee for 2027 entry with the university before applying.
The university now calls itself Budapest University of Economics and Business (BUEB), so search for that name as well as Budapest Business University or BGE. The application portal lists this course under the Faculty of International Business at the City Campus. You apply directly to the university, not through a central system, and the course is fee-paying.
