About the course

A 10-semester (5-year, 300 ECTS) Doctor of Dental Medicine programme with all courses taught in English. Preclinical sciences come first, followed by clinical dental training.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • The university assesses the Irish Leaving Certificate individually and does not publish a fixed Irish requirement. Contact admissions to confirm. You apply with your secondary school certificate and transcripts (in English or translated).
  • Entrance exam in English: a written test (45 minutes per subject) in Biology plus either Chemistry or Physics, followed by an oral exam. Completing the Basic Medicine Course is an alternative route in.
  • English: a standardised certificate at B2 level or above from a proctored exam, and your English is also assessed at the entrance exam.

Working in Ireland afterwards

A dental degree from an EU member state that is listed in the EU Professional Qualifications Directive (2005/36/EC, as amended) can be recognised automatically by the Dental Council of Ireland. To get this, you provide a certificate from your home country’s competent authority confirming the degree meets the Directive’s minimum training conditions, plus proof of English-language proficiency. EU dental degrees that do not qualify for automatic recognition may instead be assessed under the Directive.
