About the course

A multidisciplinary degree that combines engineering (maths, physics, mechanics, materials, electronics) with management, economics, accounting and finance. In third year you take a specialisation in construction industry, industrial process engineering, or material handling and logistics, plus a compulsory 6-week work placement and a thesis.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • The University of Debrecen asks for a high school certificate (completed final year and passed final exams). It publishes no Leaving Cert grade or points conversion. Admission is decided by its own online entrance exams and interview. You can apply with predicted grades and show original certificates at registration. Confirm with the admissions office that your Leaving Certificate is accepted.
  • Online entrance exams in Mathematics and Physics, plus an entrance interview. The university publishes exam topics and sample tests. Take Higher Level Maths and Physics if you can, because the exams test both subjects.
  • English: B2 (IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL paper-based 513). A certificate is not strictly required, because your English is assessed at the interview. Native speakers and students educated through English can be exempt.

It applies each year, but confirm the 2027 date when the application period opens. It advises applying as early as possible. Costs

  • The university charges 7,500 US dollars a year (2026/27 fee table), paid by bank transfer in USD. It does not publish a separate EU or euro rate. You also pay a one-off application fee of 150 USD and an entrance procedure fee of 350 USD, neither refundable. Health insurance and the student card are included in the tuition fee. Fees for 2027/28 are not yet published.
This is a fee-paying programme priced in US dollars (7,500 USD a year), so the cost in euro changes with the exchange rate. Admission depends on online maths and physics exams, not on CAO-style points.
