About the course

A four-year (8-semester, 240 ECTS) physiotherapy degree with all courses taught in English, based on the Debrecen campus. It includes a compulsory 14-week internship.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • The university assesses the Irish Leaving Certificate individually and does not publish a fixed Irish requirement. Contact admissions to confirm.
  • A compulsory entrance interview in English assesses your level of English, your school studies, your motivation and your communication skills. No written subject exam is listed for this programme.
  • English at B2 level is required (equivalent to IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL 513 paper-based). A certificate is not strictly required, as your English is assessed at the interview.

Working in Ireland afterwards

Physiotherapy is not covered by automatic recognition. CORU checks each EU/EEA physiotherapy qualification against its Standards of Proficiency, and you need a letter of recognition before you can apply to join the Physiotherapists Register. If your training does not fully match, CORU can offer a compensation measure: a supervised adaptation period in Ireland or an aptitude test. EU/EEA-qualified physiotherapists with EU rights can also apply through the European Professional Card (EPC) route.

How to apply

  1. Apply onlineRegister on the university’s STUART portal and upload the application form, your school certificate (or predicted grades), transcripts for your last 2-3 years, proof of citizenship, CV and the university’s medical certificate.
  2. Pay the feesPay the 150 USD non-refundable application fee and include the bank receipt with your application. The 350 USD entrance examination fee is also payable.
  3. Attend the interviewSit the compulsory entrance interview in English on your motivation, future plans, previous education and English level. The university gives you the date.
  4. Meet the deadlineSubmit your application by 15 May 2027 for a September 2027 start, then accept your offer and arrange accommodation.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: For the September 2027 intake the university says applications open later in 2026 and the final deadline will be 15 May 2027. The programme page still shows the older general deadline of 15 June, so go by 15 May 2027 to be safe. Interview dates are not published; the university arranges them after you apply..

Costs

  • The university charges tuition in US dollars: 7,000 USD a year for students admitted in 2026/27 (roughly 6,000 euro, depending on the exchange rate). There is also a non-refundable application fee of 150 USD and a 350 USD entrance examination fee (refundable only if you cancel your exam registration at least one week before the exam). The university does not publish a lower fee for EU students, so expect the full fee. Health insurance and the student card are included in the tuition fee.
