About the course

A three-year, 180-ECTS chemistry degree taught in English, first offered in autumn 2026. It covers analytical, inorganic, organic and physical chemistry, plus digital and data-driven chemistry, with early and continuous lab training. From second year students choose a general track or specialise in Analytical or Theoretical Chemistry.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Hungary asks for a completed upper-secondary school-leaving qualification. The Leaving Certificate normally meets this, but ELTE decides whether to accept it and publishes no Leaving Cert grade or points conversion. You upload your Leaving Cert and your records from the last two years of school (5th and 6th Year), so confirm with ELTE admissions how they want these presented.
  • Entrance exam: an online oral exam. ELTE does not publish the topics, so prepare for questions on chemistry and maths. Higher Level Chemistry and Maths are strongly advised.
  • English: B2 level required (IELTS Academic 5.5, TOEFL iBT about 72-90, PTE Academic 61, or another B2 certificate). ELTE does not say that Leaving Cert English is accepted instead, so ask admissions before booking a test.
