About the course

A three-year, English-taught BSc in computer science at ELTE’s Faculty of Informatics, with a strong mathematical foundation alongside programming and computing theory.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Hungary asks for a completed upper-secondary school-leaving qualification; the Leaving Certificate normally meets this, but ELTE decides. There is no Leaving Cert points conversion. ELTE asks for ‘sufficiently good grades’ in your school-leaving documents, especially in Mathematics, so strong Leaving Cert Maths (ideally Higher Level) will help. Confirm with international@inf.elte.hu.
  • Online written maths test covering secondary-school maths (word problems, series, number theory, functions, logic, equations including quadratic, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric, inequalities). No sample tests are provided. Those who pass go on to an English interview.
  • English at intermediate level is checked in the interview. ELTE does not say whether Leaving Cert English is accepted as proof.

How to apply

  1. Revise Leaving Cert mathsPrepare for the online maths test; the faculty publishes the topic list but no example papers.
  2. Apply 1 Feb to 30 Apr 2027Submit through apply.elte.hu with school documents and final two years’ records, CV, motivation letter, passport copy, photo and medical fitness certificate.
  3. Pay the €150 feePay the non-refundable application fee through the ELTE Webshop and upload proof.
  4. Sit the test and interviewPass the online maths test, then an English interview; if admitted, start on 1 September 2027.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Applications for September 2027 entry open 1 February 2027 and close 30 April 2027 at 23:59 CET. There is no February intake. Studies start 1 September 2027..

Costs

  • €3,200 per semester (€6,400 a year), the same for EU/EEA and non-EU students. One-off, non-refundable application fee of €150, paid through the ELTE Webshop in euro.
Admission depends on passing ELTE’s own maths entrance test, so revise Leaving Cert Higher Level maths topics. The deadline of 30 April 2027 is earlier than most CAO dates.
