About the course

A four-year business degree in tourism and hospitality, taught in English at METU’s Budapest campus (8 semesters, 240 ECTS). Along with business basics, it covers tourism topics such as hotel management and health tourism, and it includes practical training.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • METU asks for a completed secondary-school qualification with an overall average above 50% in each year and in the final exam. The Leaving Certificate normally meets this, but METU does not say how it converts Leaving Cert grades (H1-H8, O1-O8), so ask admissions how your results will be assessed.
  • Maths: METU asks for a school maths grade above 60%. All applicants also take a 30-minute online maths test (10 multiple-choice questions, calculator allowed) and an online admission interview.
  • English: you need intermediate English (IELTS 5.5+, TOEFL 69+, FCE or CAE). No certificate is required, because METU checks your English at the interview. Native speakers should not need a test, but confirm this with admissions.

Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: METU has not yet published deadlines for the September 2027 (fall) intake. For comparison, the fall 2026 deadline for METU’s business BSc programmes was 31 August 2026. The course also has a February (spring) intake. For spring 2026/27, which starts in early 2027, the early deadline is 30 September 2026 and the final deadline is 5 January 2027 (23:59 CET). Check apply.metropolitan.hu for the 2027/28 dates..

Costs

  • EUR 2,800 per semester for EU/EEA students in 2026/27, so EUR 5,600 a year (non-EU: EUR 3,500 per semester). METU asks for two semesters’ tuition up front and says fees may rise each year in line with the inflation rate published by the Hungarian National Bank. There is also a non-refundable EUR 150 application fee. If you book a place in METU student housing, a EUR 750 deposit applies.
METU is a private university in Budapest. You apply directly to METU, not through the CAO or a central Hungarian system. The fees are self-funded: EUR 5,600 a year for EU students in 2026/27, with two semesters paid up front. Unlike METU’s other business BSc programmes, this one lasts four years (8 semesters).
