About the course

A three-year (six-semester) bachelor’s degree in computer science taught in English at the Faculty of Information Technology in Veszprém, available full-time or part-time. It trains graduates to develop, install, maintain and run software systems. Courses cover mathematics and computation, plus core computing subjects such as programming, networks and operating systems. Applicants take a written entrance exam and an online oral interview.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Hungary asks for a completed upper-secondary school-leaving qualification. The faculty asks for officially certified copies of your secondary-school certificate and transcripts, in English. It says nothing specific about the Irish Leaving Cert, and there is no conversion of Leaving Cert grades (H1-H8, O1-O8) or CAO points, so confirm with admissions that your Leaving Cert is accepted.
  • Selection is by a written entrance exam and an oral exam. The oral exam is an online interview about your IT, maths and English knowledge, so revise Leaving Cert Maths before you sit it.
  • English: you must send a certificate of English language proficiency, but the faculty does not state a level or name the tests it accepts. Ask admissions whether Leaving Cert English is accepted as proof or whether you need IELTS or a similar test.

How to apply

  1. Check the programme and contact admissionsRead the Faculty of Information Technology programme and application pages, then email admissions (Orsolya Ujvári, ujvari.orsolya@mik.uni-pannon.hu) to confirm the EU fee and how the Leaving Cert and your English are assessed.
  2. Prepare certified documentsYou need a signed application form, certified copies of your school-leaving certificate and transcripts in English, English proof, a passport copy and a CV in English. The faculty says copies must be certified at a Hungarian embassy or consulate, so contact the Embassy of Hungary in Dublin early.
  3. Apply online and pay the feeApply through the university’s online portal between 1 February and 30 April (confirm the 2027 dates) and pay the 150 euro application fee by bank transfer. The fee is non-refundable. You apply directly to the university, not through felvi.hu or CAO.
  4. Sit the entrance examsTake the written exam and the online oral interview on IT, maths and English. If you get an offer, accept it and arrange tuition payment before you enrol in September 2027.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: The faculty takes applications for the autumn (September) intake between 1 February and 30 April. The page does not state the year, so expect the September 2027 window to run from 1 February to 30 April 2027, but confirm with admissions. This degree has an autumn intake only. You apply directly to the university through its online portal, not through felvi.hu..

Costs

  • The faculty lists tuition of 1,900 euro per semester (3,800 euro for two semesters) for applicants from outside the EU. It does not publish a separate EU fee, so Irish applicants must ask admissions what they will pay. There is also a non-refundable application fee of 150 euro, paid by bank transfer. The faculty also lists an optional 300 euro dormitory fee, refundable if you cancel by a set date.
The only fee the faculty publishes is 1,900 euro per semester, listed for non-EU applicants, so an Irish student must get the EU fee in writing from admissions before applying. Plan early for document certification at the Hungarian embassy and for the written and oral entrance exams. You apply directly to the university; CAO habits (points, one central form, one deadline) do not apply.
