BSc in Biology

About the course

A six-semester biology degree taught in English, covering neurobiology, genetics, microbiology, ecology, botany, zoology and plant physiology. In second year you choose a cell and laboratory specialisation or an ecology specialisation.

Entry requirements for Irish students

• Hungary asks for a completed upper-secondary school-leaving qualification. The Leaving Certificate normally meets this, but each university decides. The University of Pécs asks only that you have completed upper-secondary (high school) education. It publishes no Leaving Cert grade or points conversion, so confirm with admissions how your grades will be assessed.
• The Biology page does not describe an entrance exam or interview. It lists the documents you need: certified transcripts, a Europass CV in English, a motivation letter of 3,000 to 3,500 characters, a copy of your passport or ID, medical records (vaccinations, Hepatitis B and C and HIV tests, a chest X-ray) and an English certificate. You must be 18 by enrolment.
• You need English at B2 level or above, for example IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 90. Applicants below this level must first complete an English Language Preparatory Programme. The page asks for an official language exam certificate and does not say whether Leaving Cert English is accepted instead, so check with admissions.

How to apply

1. Prepare documentsGather certified transcripts and Leaving Cert results, a Europass CV, a motivation letter, a copy of your passport, the medical tests and an IELTS or TOEFL certificate.
2. Apply on apply.pte.huRegister, complete the form, upload your documents, pay the EUR 140 application fee and submit by 30 June 2027.
3. EvaluationOnce the fee arrives, your application is assessed. The general how-to-apply page says applicants may be invited to an entrance exam or Skype interview, so be ready for one.
4. Pay tuition and enrolIf you get a Conditional Acceptance Letter, pay the first semester’s EUR 2,500 to receive the Letter of Admission. Then arrive for the 1 September 2027 start.

Costs

• EUR 2,500 per semester (EUR 5,000 a year). The same fee applies to all international students, with no separate EU rate. There is also a non-refundable application fee of EUR 140. Under the university’s general process, you pay tuition after conditional acceptance, and the Letter of Admission follows.
