About the course

A 7-semester degree taught in English with an Application Developer specialisation. It covers programming, systems theory, web development, security and software technology, and ends with a thesis project.

Entry requirements for Irish students

• Hungary asks for a completed upper-secondary qualification, and the University of Pécs does not publish how it treats the Leaving Certificate. Your school results are scored as the ‘GPA’ part of the assessment, but the university does not say how H1-H8 grades convert. Confirm with admissions.
• Admission is on points, and you need at least 60 out of 100, with some points in every main part. The parts are GPA (up to 40), motivation letter (up to 20) and an online interview in English (up to 40). A C1 English certificate or reference letters can add up to 10 bonus points. There is no written entrance exam listed.
• English: the university’s language rules exempt applicants who finished secondary school in English in Ireland from an English test certificate. However, the engineering faculty may still test your English through an online test, an interview or both.

How to apply

1. Prepare documentsGather your passport photo page, Leaving Cert certificate and transcript of results, and a motivation letter explaining your interest in computing. Also include any other documents the portal asks for.
2. Apply onlineRegister at apply.pte.hu, upload your documents and pay the USD 150 application fee by 15 June 2027.
3. Online interviewTake the interview in English. You need at least 60 points from grades, letter and interview.
4. Pay and enrolAfter you receive the Conditional Acceptance Letter, pay the tuition to get the Letter of Admission, then prepare for the 1 September 2027 start.

Costs

• The university lists tuition of USD 3,400 per semester (USD 6,800 a year). That is roughly €5,800 a year, but the euro cost depends on the exchange rate. The programme page gives no separate EU rate. There is also a USD 150 application fee. The programme page does not say whether it can be refunded. You pay tuition after conditional acceptance.
