A six-semester English-taught BA in English studies, covering English and American literature, culture and language.

Entry requirements for Irish students

• The University of Pécs does not publish a Leaving Certificate conversion. It asks for proof that you have completed secondary school, with certified transcripts, and applies its general entry requirements. Hungary has no national Leaving Cert points conversion, so ask the Faculty of Humanities how it will assess your Leaving Cert.
• You must pass an entrance exam, in person or on MS Teams. The university does not publish what the exam covers.
• English: applicants who completed secondary school in Ireland are exempt from the English test. Otherwise the page accepts TOEFL iBT 72, IELTS 6.0, Cambridge B2 or equivalent.

How to apply

1. Register and apply onlineClick Apply Now on the programme page, register at apply.pte.hu, complete the form and pay the EUR 140 application fee before 30 June 2027.
2. Prepare documentsUpload certified transcripts, a CV, a motivation letter (3,000-3,500 characters), a motivational video, a copy of your passport, a medical certificate with the required test results and your application fee receipt.
3. Sit the entrance examTake the entrance exam in person or on MS Teams, on a date the faculty gives you.
4. Accept and enrolAccept your offer, pay the first semester’s fee of EUR 1,800 and arrive in Pécs for the 1 September 2027 start.

Costs

• EU students pay EUR 1,800 per semester (EUR 3,600 a year); non-EU students pay EUR 2,300 per semester. There is also a non-refundable application fee of EUR 140.
