About the course

A four-year (eight-semester) physiotherapy degree taught in English at the Faculty of Health Sciences in Pécs, covering areas such as manual techniques, cardio-respiratory, neurological and paediatric physiotherapy, and rehabilitation. Field practice runs from semester IV to VIII alongside the theory modules, and the degree awarded is a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Patient Care (Physiotherapist).

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • The university assesses the Irish Leaving Certificate individually and does not publish a fixed Irish requirement. Contact admissions to confirm. Its general rule is a secondary school leaving certificate, with the mean of your Biology grade and one other subject of your choice weighted in your average, so Leaving Cert Biology matters.
  • There is no science entrance exam. Instead there is a 15-minute online oral interview in English (Microsoft Teams) with two examiners, who start a conversation on two of nine set topics, such as disease prevention, a healthy lifestyle, your professional plans and what you expect from studying in Hungary. Your passport photo is checked against you on screen.
  • English: B2 (intermediate) level, assessed through the online interview. The programme page also lists B2 English among the requirements, while the faculty’s 2026 application page says a certificate is recommended but not obligatory, so confirm with the International Office.

Working in Ireland afterwards

Physiotherapy is not covered by automatic recognition. CORU checks each EU/EEA physiotherapy qualification against its Standards of Proficiency, and you need a letter of recognition before you can apply to join the Physiotherapists Register. If your training does not fully match, CORU can offer a compensation measure: a supervised adaptation period in Ireland or an aptitude test. EU/EEA-qualified physiotherapists with EU rights can also apply through the European Professional Card (EPC) route.

How to apply

  1. Prepare documentsGet your Leaving Cert results and transcript in English, CV and motivation letter in English, passport copy and medical documents (general medical certificate, HIV and Hepatitis B/C results, chest X-ray, Hepatitis B vaccination card).

  3. Online interviewOnce your documents are assessed, you take a 15-minute English interview on Microsoft Teams. Have your passport ready, as your photo is checked.
  4. Accept and payIf admitted, pay the first semester’s tuition (EUR 2,900) plus the EUR 100 registration fee, then arrive for the start of studies on 1 Sep 2027.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Applications for September 2027 open on 1 November 2026 and close on 30 June 2027 (23:59 CET) on apply.pte.hu. After you submit your documents and pay the application fee, you are invited to an online oral interview in English (Microsoft Teams). No fixed interview dates are published. Studies start on 1 September 2027 (autumn intake only)..

Costs

  • EUR 2,900 per semester (about EUR 5,800 a year), as listed on the programme page for the September 2027 intake. The university publishes one fee with no separate EU rate, so Irish students pay the full fee, as is usual for English-language programmes in Hungary. One-off costs: EUR 200 application fee (paid before your application is assessed) and EUR 100 registration fee, paid with the first tuition instalment.
Physiotherapy is not covered by automatic recognition: CORU checks each EU/EEA qualification against its Standards of Proficiency and may require an adaptation period or aptitude test before you can join the Physiotherapists Register (an EPC route is also available). Hungarian for Medical Purposes is taught in semesters I to IV (0 credits).
