About the course

This is a seven-semester, 210-credit engineering degree taught in English. Entry requirements for Irish students

  • The university publishes nothing specific about the Irish Leaving Certificate. It asks for a secondary school-leaving certificate and a transcript of the subjects you studied, both as notarised copies. There is no national points or H1-H8 conversion in Hungary, so the university assesses your documents itself. Confirm with admissions@sze.hu that the Leaving Cert is accepted.
  • Engineering applicants must show evidence that they studied mathematics at school. Your Leaving Cert Maths result (Higher Level is advisable for engineering) should appear on your transcript. The page does not mention an entrance exam, but you must also send a CV, a motivation letter and an academic reference letter.
  • English: IELTS 5.5, TOEFL 513 or TOEFL iBT 66 (taken within the last two years), another B2-level certificate, or proof that your previous studies were taught in English. If none of these fits, you can do an online language interview. Irish students should ask whether a school letter confirming English-medium teaching is enough.
