About the course

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Klaipeda University publishes no Ireland-specific Leaving Certificate rule. Its general requirement is completed secondary education with a good average grade (minimum CGPA above 60%). Only final certificates are accepted, not provisional ones. Documents need an Apostille unless issued in the EU, so an Irish Leaving Cert should be exempt. Contact admissions to confirm how your Higher and Ordinary Level grades will be converted.
  • No entrance test. You add a motivation letter to your application, and you are interviewed by a Studies Office staff member or a university representative.
  • English: level B2 is required. Accepted proof is IELTS above 5.5, TOEFL above 75, Duolingo above 110 or PTE above 59. Native English speakers are exempt, but Irish applicants should confirm this with admissions.

How to apply

  1. Check timingOnly final certificates are accepted, and Leaving Cert results arrive in late August, after the 1 June autumn deadline. Consider the spring intake (deadline 1 November, start 1 February).
  2. Apply onlineCreate an application at apply.ku.lt (autumn intake by 1 June, spring intake by 1 November). Upload your passport, your Leaving Cert, a motivation letter and English proof (or confirmation of the native-speaker exemption).
  3. Pay fee and interviewPay the non-refundable application fee (€180 as currently listed). You then have an online interview with a Studies Office staff member or a university representative.
  4. Pay tuition and enrolPay the tuition fee (€3,250 per year in 2026/27) to receive your letter of acceptance, and prepare to start in September or February.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Autumn intake: the university’s application procedure page gives an autumn application window of 1 January to 1 June. The 2026 autumn window has closed, and 2026/27 studies began on 15 September 2026. A spring intake is also offered. For 2026/27 the deadline is 1 November 2026 (23:59 Eastern European Time), with studies starting 1 February 2027. The 2027/28 dates are not yet published. Confirm them with admissions..

Costs

  • The university’s application portal lists the tuition fee as €3,250 per year for the 2026/27 intakes. The 2027/28 fee has not yet been published. The portal also shows a non-refundable one-time application fee of €180 and does not list a lower rate for EU applicants.
Klaipeda accepts only final school certificates, and its autumn deadline is before Leaving Cert results come out. The February start (apply by 1 November) is often the practical route. If you plan to practise in Ireland, check with CORU whether a Lithuanian social work degree would be recognised.
