About the course

A five-year integrated programme (300 ECTS credits) leading directly to a Master of Arts in Architecture. It covers building and urban design and is taught mainly through studio projects. KTU runs it in both English and Lithuanian, so make sure you apply for the English-taught version.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • KTU does not publish a specific rule for the Leaving Certificate. You need a secondary school leaving certificate with an average of at least 60% in the entry subjects. KTU publishes no conversion for Leaving Cert grades (H1-H8, O1-O8), so ask international@ktu.lt how it assesses them. KTU’s general deadline falls before Leaving Cert results come out, so also ask how it handles Irish applicants.
  • Your competition score is weighted 50% KTU’s entrance exam (drawing from memory and composition of architectural forms, held online), 30% Maths, IT or Physics and 20% English. You also submit a digital portfolio (a PDF of up to 8 projects, 30 A4 landscape pages and 20 MB in total).
  • English: B2 level is required (IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 75, or equivalent). Applicants whose previous studies were fully in English, with documents to prove it, may not need a test. Confirm with KTU whether your Leaving Cert qualifies.

How to apply

  1. Build a portfolioDuring 5th year, put together a PDF portfolio of your best work: up to 8 projects, no more than 30 A4 landscape pages and 20 MB in total, with descriptions in English.
  2. Apply onlineRegister on apply.ktu.edu when the 2027 window opens, upload your documents and portfolio, and pay the application fee by bank transfer.
  3. Sit the online examBook one of KTU’s online entrance exam sessions (20 March, 30 April or 3 July in the 2026 cycle). The exam lasts 3 hours on Zoom: you design a small building and then email a photo of your drawings within 10 minutes.
  4. Accept and payIf you get an offer, sign the study agreement and pay the first-year fee before studies start in September in Kaunas.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: For 2026 entry, KTU’s general application window ran from 15 October 2025 to 1 June 2026, with studies starting on 1 September 2026. KTU’s 2026/27 architecture admission document set online entrance exam dates of 20 March, 30 April and 3 July 2026. The 2027 dates and exam sessions have not been published, so check with KTU..

Costs

  • KTU’s programme page lists EUR 5,676 a year (EUR 94.60 per credit, 60 credits a year) for 2026/27. It also shows a higher rate of EUR 7,116 (EUR 118.60 per credit) without saying who it applies to, so confirm with KTU which rate EU and Irish students pay. International applicants also pay a non-refundable application fee (amount not stated on the bachelor page). The full first-year fee must be paid before arrival. Check the fee for 2027/28 before applying.
Half of your score comes from KTU’s own 3-hour online exam, in which you design a small building (for example a sauna) with a plan, elevations, a section and a perspective. Start practising freehand and perspective drawing early.
