About the course

An interdisciplinary, 240-credit degree combining chemistry, biology and engineering, covering biomedical materials, polymer chemistry, tissue engineering and quality assurance. It includes lab work, internships and a final bachelor’s project.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • KTU has no Ireland-specific rule. You need a school-leaving certificate, with an average of over 60% in each entry subject, and you must apply within three years of finishing school. In Leaving Cert terms, 60% is the bottom of the H4 band. KTU does not say how it treats Higher and Ordinary level, so ask KTU admissions. Your certificate goes through academic recognition, and KTU lists an SKVC equivalency certificate among the documents it needs.
  • Your competitive score is 40% Maths, 40% one of Chemistry, Physics, Biology, IT, Geography or Engineering, and 20% English, all from final exams. Leaving Cert Maths is essential.
  • English: IELTS 5.5, TOEFL 75, CEFR B2 or equivalent. You do not need a test if your previous studies were fully in English and this is shown on your certificate, transcript or a letter from your school. Ask KTU whether a letter from an Irish school is enough.

How to apply

  1. Check subjectsTake Leaving Cert Maths plus a science (ideally Chemistry or Biology), and aim for over 60% (H4 or better) in each entry subject.
  2. Apply onlineApply on apply.ktu.edu before the deadline (1 June in the 2026 cycle). Upload your passport, photo, school certificate or current results and proof of English, then pay the application fee.
  3. Receive decisionKTU reviews your application within 2-3 working days of receiving your application fee, then sends its decision and an invitation letter.
  4. Pay and enrolPay the first year’s tuition before arriving in Lithuania, then enrol for the September start.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: For the 2026/27 intake, applications on apply.ktu.edu ran from 15 October 2025 to 1 June 2026, and studies started on 1 September 2026. KTU has not published the 2027 dates yet. Expect a similar early-June deadline and confirm it with KTU. EU citizens can also compete for state-funded (tuition-free) places through Lithuania’s LAMA BPO system, which opens in early June and closes at the end of June..

Costs

  • EUR 4,201 a year for full-time study (EUR 70.02 per credit, 60 credits a year) in 2026/27. You pay an application fee before KTU reviews your application; KTU does not state the amount on its admissions pages. You must pay the first year’s tuition before you arrive in Lithuania. After that you can pay once a semester. KTU automatically considers applicants with outstanding results for partial tuition-fee waivers. The 2027/28 fee is not published yet.
This is a fee-paying place (EUR 4,201 a year in 2026/27). KTU’s deadline has been 1 June, before Leaving Cert results come out. Maths carries 40% of the admission score. EU citizens can also try for a tuition-free state-funded place through LAMA BPO in June.
