About the course

A combined electronics and electrical engineering degree taught in English, covering circuit theory, microprocessor systems, power electronics and smart energy systems, with a lot of laboratory work. It is a 180-credit, full-time degree taught on campus in Kaunas.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • KTU has no Ireland-specific rule. You need a school-leaving certificate, with an average of over 60% in each entry subject, and you must apply within three years of finishing school. In Leaving Cert terms, 60% is the bottom of the H4 band. KTU does not publish how it converts Leaving Cert grades (H1-H8, O1-O8), so ask KTU admissions. Your certificate goes through academic recognition (an SKVC equivalency certificate).
  • Your competitive score is 40% Maths, 40% a science or IT subject and 20% English, all from final exams.
  • English: IELTS 5.5, TOEFL 75, CEFR B2 or equivalent. You do not need a test if your previous studies were fully in English and this is shown on your certificate, transcript or a letter from your school. Ask KTU whether a letter from an Irish school is enough.

How to apply

  1. Check subjectsTake Leaving Cert Maths, a science such as Physics (or Engineering), and English, and aim for over 60% in each, because KTU ranks applicants on these.
  2. Apply on apply.ktu.eduRegister, then upload your passport, photo, Leaving Cert results (or current results) and English evidence, and pay the application fee. The 2026 cycle closed on 1 June 2026. Confirm the 2027 deadline.
  3. Recognition and offerKTU reviews your application within 2-3 working days of receiving your application fee and arranges academic recognition. Ask about the Litgrid scholarship at this stage.
  4. Pay and enrolPay the first year’s tuition before arriving in Lithuania, then enrol for the start of studies in September.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: For the 2026/27 intake, applications on apply.ktu.edu ran from 15 October 2025 to 1 June 2026, and studies started on 1 September 2026. KTU has not published the 2027 dates yet. EU citizens can also compete for state-funded places through LAMA BPO, which opens in early June and closes at the end of June, after SKVC recognition of the Leaving Cert..

Costs

  • EUR 4,201 a year for full-time study (EUR 70.02 per credit; 180 credits over three years) in 2026/27. You pay an application fee through apply.ktu.edu before your application is reviewed; KTU does not state the amount on its admissions pages. You must pay the first year’s tuition before you arrive in Lithuania. After that you can pay once a semester. KTU advertises a Litgrid scholarship of EUR 375 a month for first-year students on this programme, and offers partial tuition-fee waivers for strong applicants. The 2027/28 fee is not published yet.
This is a 3-year bachelor, shorter than most Irish engineering degrees, so check whether you would need a master’s for professional recognition in Ireland. The deadline comes before Leaving Cert results are out, so apply early with your current results.
