About the course

A four-year (240 ECTS) English-taught programme covering food chemistry, microbiology, food technology and engineering, nutrition and entrepreneurship. Students work in modern food technology labs with pilot-scale production lines. KTU says it is the only bachelor’s programme in the Baltic States with both the ASIIN Seal and the EQAS Food Quality Label.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • KTU does not publish a specific rule for the Irish Leaving Cert. Its general rules: a school-leaving certificate with an average above 60%, above 60% in each entry subject, and no more than 3 years since you finished school. Ask KTU admissions how your Leaving Cert grades (H1-H8, O1-O8) will be converted.
  • Entry subjects are Mathematics plus one of Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Information Technologies, Geography or Engineering Technologies. Maths is required. Chemistry is not strictly required but is the most relevant choice.
  • English: IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 75 or CEFR B2, or equivalent. KTU may waive this if your previous studies were fully in English and you can prove it. Leaving Cert English is not named, so ask KTU to confirm in writing.
