Entry requirements for Irish students

  • KTU does not publish a specific rule for the Irish Leaving Cert. Its general rules: a school-leaving certificate with an average above 60%, above 60% in each entry subject, and no more than 3 years since you finished school. Ask KTU admissions how your Higher and Ordinary Level grades (H1-H8, O1-O8) will be converted.
  • Entry subjects are Mathematics plus one of Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Information Technologies, Geography or Engineering Technologies. A good Maths grade and a science such as Chemistry or Biology matter.
  • English: IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 75 or CEFR B2, or equivalent. KTU may waive this if your previous studies were fully in English and you can prove it. Leaving Cert English is not named, so ask KTU to confirm in writing.
