Entry requirements for Irish students

  • KTU publishes nothing specific about the Irish Leaving Certificate. Its general rule is a school-leaving certificate with an average of at least 60% in each entry subject. The programme page also says you must apply within 3 years of finishing school. KTU does its own academic recognition. Before applying, ask KTU (academic.recognition@ktu.lt) how Higher and Ordinary Level grades (H1-H8, O1-O8) are converted.
  • This programme’s entry subjects and weightings are not given on the programme page; they are set in Appendix 5 of the KTU Admission Rules. The competition score is based on your school-leaving subject grades, plus a KTU entrance exam and motivation assessment where these apply. Confirm with KTU which parts apply to you.
  • English: CEFR B2, IELTS 5.5 (at least 5.5 in each part) or TOEFL iBT 75, with the certificate no more than 2 years old. KTU also offers a free online English test if you have no certificate. Do not assume Leaving Cert English counts without confirming with KTU.

How to apply

  1. Check eligibilityMake sure you will apply within 3 years of your Leaving Cert, and ask KTU which subjects count towards your score and how Irish grades are converted.
  2. Apply on apply.ktu.eduCreate an application (the 2026 cycle ran from 15 October 2025 to 1 June 2026). Upload your passport or ID card, your results or provisional results and proof of English, then pay the EUR 100 application fee. Review starts once the payment is confirmed.
  3. AssessmentTake any KTU entrance exam or motivation assessment if KTU asks you to.
  4. Accept and payIf you get an offer, sign the study agreement and pay the first year’s tuition in advance (EUR 3,250 in 2026/27) before the 1 September start in Kaunas.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: For 2026 entry, applications on apply.ktu.edu ran from 15 October 2025 to 1 June 2026, with studies starting 1 September 2026. There is only an autumn intake. 2027 dates are not yet published, so confirm on admissions.ktu.edu. EU citizens may also compete for state-funded places through the national LAMA BPO system (main round usually June to July), which needs SKVC recognition of the Leaving Cert first..

Costs

  • EUR 3,250 per year (EUR 54.17 per credit) for full-time study, 240 ECTS in total, for the 2026/27 intake. The 2027 fee is not yet published. International applicants also pay a non-refundable EUR 100 application fee, and the full first-year fee must be paid in advance. Check the current fee on the KTU programme page before applying.
This is a four-year, fee-paying degree that you apply for directly through KTU, and you must apply within 3 years of your Leaving Cert. A state-funded place needs a separate LAMA BPO application, with SKVC recognition first.
