About the course

A full-time Bachelor of Humanities degree (210 ECTS) taught in English. It trains specialists in English for professional use, together with a second foreign language. You choose either a European pathway (English plus Norwegian, French, German or Spanish) or a Euro-Asian pathway (English plus Korean or Chinese). Classes in the second language will be partly taught in that language.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • MRU’s country-specific requirements page accepts the Leaving Certificate (Established) or the Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme if you reach minimum scores. For results from 2017 on, the page lists ‘2 HD1 and 4 OD3/HE’. This uses old grading terms, so it seems to mean two Higher Level subjects and four more subjects at a minimum grade. Ask MRU admissions to confirm the exact grades in the current H1 to H8 and O1 to O8 scale.
  • A motivation letter is required, including a personal SWOT analysis and what you expect from the programme. The programme page does not mention an entrance exam or interview.
  • English must be at B2 level. The programme page lists TOEFL iBT, IELTS, PTE and Duolingo as accepted proof, and MRU offers preparatory English courses if you are below B2. MRU’s pages do not say whether Leaving Cert English or being a native speaker exempts you, so ask admissions.

How to apply

  1. Check requirementsEmail MRU admissions (study@mruni.eu) to confirm the Leaving Cert grades you need and whether you need an English test or are exempt.
  2. Choose your second languagePick either the European pathway (Norwegian, French, German or Spanish) or the Euro-Asian one (Korean or Chinese), and explain your choice in your motivation letter.
  3. Apply onlineApply on apply.mruni.eu once the 2027 application period opens (in 2026 it ran from 1 January to 24 July for EU applicants). Upload your documents and motivation letter and pay the EUR 50 EU application fee.
  4. Accept and registerIf you get an offer, confirm your place by paying the first year’s tuition and the EUR 50 registration fee. Then arrange accommodation in Vilnius before studies start on 1 September 2027.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: The 2027 application dates have not been published yet. For 2026 entry, MRU’s FAQ gave the application period for EU/EFTA applicants as 1 January to 24 July 2026 (non-EU: 1 January to 1 June). Expect a similar window for 2027, but check apply.mruni.eu for the confirmed dates..

Costs

  • MRU’s programme page lists tuition of EUR 4,200 a year for 2026/27 and an estimated EUR 4,284 a year for 2027/28. No separate EU rate is shown. MRU’s application procedure page says the non-refundable application fee is EUR 50 for EU citizens (EUR 100 for non-EU citizens). To accept a place you pay the first year’s tuition in full plus a non-refundable EUR 50 registration fee.
This is a fee-paying degree, estimated at EUR 4,284 a year for 2027/28. As a native English speaker you may still be asked for B2 English proof, so check this with MRU early.
