About the course

An English-taught psychology degree worth 210 ECTS over 3.5 years, run by MRU’s Faculty of Human and Social Studies in Vilnius. It covers the main branches of psychology along with research methods and statistics. Check the programme page for the full module list, the internship and the thesis.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • MRU accepts the Leaving Certificate (Established) or the LCVP. Its country-specific page sets a minimum of two Higher Level subjects plus four further passes, but the grade wording is garbled (for post-2017 results it reads ‘2 HD1 and 4 OD3/HE’). Ask admissions to confirm the exact grades on the current H1-H8 and O1-O8 scale. MRU’s admissions page also requires an average of at least 60% of the maximum possible grade. Meeting the minimum does not guarantee a place.
  • You need to send a motivation letter with a short introduction, a personal SWOT analysis and your expectations of the programme. MRU may also ask you to sit an English or Maths test, or an Online Mathematics Placement Test (OMPT), or to attend a motivation interview.
  • English at B2 level is required, shown by IELTS (5.5-6.5), TOEFL iBT (72-94), PTE (59-75), Duolingo (100-125) or Cambridge (162+), for example. MRU waives the certificate if you are a native speaker, if you were educated entirely in English, or if you pass its free online English test. Irish applicants should confirm with admissions that the exemption applies to them.

How to apply

  1. Prepare documentsGet a colour scan of your Leaving Cert results (or school grades if you apply before results are out), your passport, proof of English or your exemption, and a motivation letter you wrote yourself that includes a SWOT analysis.
  2. Apply onlineFill in the form at apply.mruni.eu and pay the non-refundable application fee. In the 2026 cycle the EU deadline was 24 July, so check the 2027 date and apply well before it.
  3. Sit any extra checksMRU may invite you to an English or Maths test, the OMPT, or a motivation interview before it makes a decision.
  4. Accept and registerAccept your place by paying the first year’s tuition and the EUR 50 registration fee, sign the study contract, and register. Studies start on 1 September. As an EU citizen you do not need a visa, but check Lithuania’s EU residence registration rules.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: For 2026 entry, applications opened on 1 January 2026 and closed on 24 July 2026 for EU/EFTA applicants (1 June 2026 for non-EU applicants), with studies starting on 1 September. The 2027 dates are not yet published. Check them on the MRU admissions page, and apply well before late July 2027..

Costs

  • EUR 4,200 per academic year for 2026/27. MRU’s application portal gives an estimated EUR 4,284 per year for 2027/28. MRU’s admissions page lists a non-refundable application fee of EUR 50 for EU citizens (EUR 100 for non-EU citizens), but the course page on the application portal shows EUR 100, so check which one applies to you before you pay. A non-refundable EUR 50 registration fee is due after you receive an offer.
This is a fee-paying place of about EUR 4,200 a year. You apply directly to MRU, not through LAMA BPO. The course lasts 3.5 years, so budget for seven semesters of fees.
