About the course

A three-year (180 ECTS) degree taught in English. It covers maths, micro- and macroeconomics, statistical methods, international economics, programming for economics, finance, accounting, labour economics, marketing and business ethics. It includes an internship (qualification practice) and a bachelor thesis, and some teaching is by external lecturers from business and NGOs.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • VMU does not publish a separate Leaving Certificate rule. Its competitive score is 70% the average of all the subjects on your school-leaving certificate and 30% a motivation letter and/or interview. International applicants need a minimum overall average of 60%. Ask VMU admissions how it converts Leaving Cert grades (H1-H8, O1-O8).
  • All applicants do an online motivational interview, and VMU may ask you to take a maths assessment test, so solid Leaving Cert Maths helps on this quantitative course.
  • English: you need B2 level. VMU accepts, for example, IELTS 5.5-6.5, TOEFL iBT 87-109, Cambridge FCE 161-180 or Duolingo 100-125. Native speakers and applicants educated in English are exempt if they send an official document from their school. Ask VMU to confirm that a letter from an Irish school is enough.

How to apply

  1. Check 2027 requirementsFrom early November 2026, check VMU’s degree-studies page for the 2027 requirements, deadlines and fees.
  2. Prepare documentsGet your Leaving Cert results or school transcript, your English proof or a letter from your school, a motivation letter, a CV in English, a passport copy and a photo.
  3. Apply on DreamApplyApply at vytautasmagnus.dreamapply.com and pay the EUR 150 application fee (one application covers up to 2 programmes). In the 2026 cycle the EU deadline was 1 July.
  4. Interview and decisionDo the online motivational interview and any maths assessment. VMU then assesses your qualification and makes its decision. Once admitted, pay the fee and sign the study agreement. Studies provisionally begin on 23 August 2027.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: For 2026 entry, VMU’s 2026 admission rules set the deadline for EU applicants and applicants from visa-free countries at 1 July 2026 (non-EU: 1 December 2025 to 1 May 2026). VMU says applications for the 2027 autumn intake open at the beginning of November 2026, with studies provisionally starting on 23 August 2027. Check the 2027 deadline once it is published..

Costs

  • VMU’s tuition-fees page lists EUR 3,250 a year for EU/EFTA citizens in 2026/27 (non-EU: EUR 3,400; the programme page shows only the EUR 3,400 figure). There is also a non-refundable application fee of EUR 150, and one application can cover up to two programmes. The 2027/28 fee is not yet published, so check the tuition-fees page before you apply.
This is a fee-paying 3-year degree taught in English (EUR 3,250 a year for EU students in 2026/27). You apply directly to VMU through DreamApply, not through LAMA BPO, and there is a EUR 150 application fee.
