About the course

An international liberal arts college inside Maastricht University. Students build their own degree within a "concentration" in the humanities, social sciences or sciences, taught in small tutorial groups (Problem-Based Learning).

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Leaving Certificate in 6 subjects, with at least 3 at Higher Level graded H1–H5.
  • Higher Level Maths is recommended if you plan to take the Science concentration.
  • No CAO points minimum. Entry depends on the selection process below.

How to apply

  1. Apply on Studielink (from 1 October 2026)Choose "Liberal Arts & Sciences (UCM)". Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so apply early.
  2. Complete your tasks in the MyApplication portalUpload a passport photo, a passport copy, your latest results and a motivation letter in English.
  3. Round 1: document reviewYou’ll be emailed if you’re selected for an interview.
  4. Round 2: online interview30–45 minutes in English with a UCM academic about your academic plans.
  5. Decision within 6 weeksAccept your offer, then complete enrolment tasks by 31 August 2027.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: 1 April 2027, 23:59 CET.

Costs

  • €4,465 (2026/27), €4,595 (2027/28). UCM’s fee is higher than the standard Dutch fee. UCM has an "extra tariff waiver" for students with limited means.
  • EU students may be eligible for a Dutch tuition-fee loan (DUO).
First year matters: you must pass at least 45 of 60 credits in year one to continue (Binding Study Advice).
