About the course

A three-year, full-time honours degree (MQF Level 6) from UM’s Faculty of ICT. It covers both the hardware and software sides of computer systems, including computing infrastructure, telecommunications, signal processing and microelectronics. The focus is on core topics that help you learn new technologies. UM teaches in English.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • UM’s general entry rule for the Irish Leaving Certificate is 6 Higher Level passes, including 2 at H2, 2 at H3 and 2 at H6. These must include Higher Level passes in a language, a science and a humanities subject.
  • Special Course Requirements: two Advanced Level passes at grade C or better, in Pure Maths and one other subject, plus an Intermediate Level pass in Physics if you are not presenting it at Advanced Level. UM treats a Leaving Cert H2 as Advanced grade C and an H6 as Intermediate grade C. In practice this means Higher Level Maths at H2 or better, another subject at H2 or better, and Physics. Confirm the Physics grade needed with UM Admissions.
  • English: an Ordinary Level grade O4 or better in Leaving Cert English may be accepted instead of an English language test.

Costs

  • UM’s course page lists a fee of EUR 10,800 a year for non-EU students only. The EU/EEA fee is not shown on the pages checked. EU students on a first full-time bachelor’s degree at UM are generally not charged tuition, but confirm this and any application fee with UM.
