About the course

A three-year, full-time honours degree from UM’s Faculty of ICT. It teaches the core skills for building software, covering modern software development in different areas, project management and quality assurance. UM teaches in English.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • UM’s general entry rule for the Irish Leaving Certificate is 6 Higher Level passes, including 2 at H2, 2 at H3 and 2 at H6. These must include Higher Level passes in a language, a science and a humanities subject.
  • Special Course Requirements has three parts. First, two Advanced Level passes at grade C or better (a Leaving Cert H2 or better) from Applied Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Computing, Economics, English, IT, Philosophy, Physics or Pure Maths. Second, Pure Maths at Intermediate Level grade C or better (H6 or better). Third, an Intermediate Level pass in Computing or IT. UM’s list marks the Computing/IT requirement with a note that the pages checked did not explain. Ask UM Admissions whether Leaving Cert Computer Science is required or whether there is an alternative.
  • English: an Ordinary Level grade O4 or better in Leaving Cert English may be accepted instead of an English language test.
