About the course

A practical, career-focused business degree that combines business management with intercultural skills, covering areas such as marketing, sales, organisational management and supply chain, with real-life company projects. Taught in English in Leeuwarden and Emmen; in Emmen you can also combine it with Logistics Management as a double bachelor’s degree.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • NHL Stenden’s recognised qualifications list accepts the Irish Leaving Certificate with at least 6 subjects, of which at least 2 at Higher Level with grades H1-H4. This list dates from 2021, so confirm with admissions.
  • No specific maths or subject requirement was found for this programme. You may be exempt from an English test if English was part of your final exams at a recognised European school; confirm with admissions.

How to apply

  1. Apply on StudielinkRegister for International Business (Leeuwarden or Emmen) on studielink.nl before 15 August for a September start.
  2. Submit documentsSend NHL Stenden your application documents, such as your Leaving Cert results (or predicted grades) and passport, as requested after your Studielink registration.
  3. Study MatchingComplete NHL Stenden’s Study Matching step, which is part of its application procedure.
  4. Finalise your applicationOnce your final Leaving Cert results are checked you receive your admission decision; then arrange housing and tuition payment before the start.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: 15 August for EU/EEA applicants starting in September (NHL Stenden’s general EU deadline, published without a year). A February start is offered in Leeuwarden only (EU deadline 15 January). Emmen starts in September only..

Costs

  • Standard Dutch EU fee: €2,694 (2026/27). The 2027/28 fee is set by the Dutch government each year (expected to be close to €2,800). NHL Stenden also lists study materials of about €450 and international activities costing €200 to €600.
  • EU students may be eligible for a Dutch tuition-fee loan (DUO).
