About the course

A 5.5-year (11-semester) long-cycle veterinary degree taught in English, leading to the title of Veterinary Physician (DVM). You start with basic sciences such as anatomy, biochemistry and physiology, then move on to clinical training in the faculty’s clinics and surgical theatres, choosing 12 electives from 38; the faculty holds EAEVE accreditation.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • The university does not publish a specific Irish Leaving Certificate requirement. For Veterinary Medicine it asks for your school-leaving grade in Biology plus a grade in one of Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics, along with your certificate, full transcript and an explanation of the grading system. It does not publish levels, minimum grades or how it ranks applicants. Contact admissions to confirm.
  • No entrance exam for Irish or other EU applicants. The 30-question, 30-minute online Life Sciences test (at least 16 of 30 correct to pass) is only for applicants from outside the EU, OECD, EFTA and Ukraine.
  • English: if your secondary education was not in English, you need B2 level (e.g. IELTS Academic 5.5, TOEFL iBT 72, Cambridge FCE/CAE/CPE). Applicants educated through English appear to be covered, but confirm with admissions, especially if you attended a Gaelscoil.

Working in Ireland afterwards

Veterinary degrees from EU member states listed in Annex V (point 5.4.2) of Directive 2005/36/EC are recognised qualifications you can register with at the Veterinary Council of Ireland, which in effect means automatic recognition. You still need to apply to the VCI to register before you can practise. Check the VCI’s list of recognised qualifications to confirm your specific degree is on it.

How to apply

  1. Prepare documentsGet your Leaving Certificate and full statement of results, an explanation of the grading system and a copy of your passport. Educational documents need an Apostille. Ireland is on the university’s list of countries whose certificates do not need formal recognition.
  2. Register onlineCreate an account in the ULSL Admission System, apply for Veterinary Medicine and pay the EUR 20 admission fee. For 2026 entry, the first round closed on 31 May and the second round on 31 August.
  3. Results and tuitionCheck your admission status (for 2026, first-round results came out on 9 June). Once admitted, pay tuition for one semester or the full year, and complete the health certificate (available after registration) confirming you are medically fit to study.
  4. Enrol in LublinBring your original documents to Lublin, enrol, and within 30 days of enrolment provide health insurance (an EHIC is accepted) or sign an agreement with the Polish NFZ.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: The 2027 dates are not yet published. For 2026 entry, first-round registration ran from 13 April to 31 May 2026 (23:59 CEST), with results on 9 June 2026. A second round ran from 1 July to 31 August 2026, with results on 7 September 2026. The online entrance test (3 June and 3 September 2026) applied only to Veterinary Medicine applicants from outside the EU, OECD, EFTA and Ukraine, so Irish applicants do not sit it. Expect similar dates for 2027 and confirm with the university..

Costs

  • EUR 8,000 per year (EUR 4,000 per semester), as currently published by the university. The university does not publish a separate lower fee for EU students on the English-taught programme, so expect to pay this as an Irish applicant. There is also a non-refundable admission fee of EUR 20. Tuition is paid for either one academic year or one semester after you are admitted. The fee page does not say which academic year it covers, so confirm the 2027/28 amount.
