About the course

This 3.5-year (7-semester) engineering bachelor is taught entirely in English on the Gliwice campus. It covers programming, operating systems and compilers, concurrent programming, and computer graphics and vision. Teaching combines lectures with a large amount of lab and project work.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • The university publishes no Irish-specific rules. Its international admissions page asks for your school-leaving certificate (apostilled and translated into English or Polish). It also asks for an eligibility statement confirming that the certificate lets you start bachelor studies, and for an individual NAWA recognition statement, which you must get yourself. Polish rules generally accept EU certificates such as the Leaving Cert without a separate NAWA recognition decision, so ask study@polsl.pl in writing which documents an Irish applicant needs. CAO points do not carry across.
  • Every first-cycle applicant must pass the university’s online mathematics entrance exam. It is set at the level of basic Polish Matura maths, and you need at least 9 correct answers out of 30 (30%). You get one attempt per intake.
  • English: you need proof of B2 level. Accepted examples include IELTS 5.5, TOEFL iBT 72, Cambridge FCE, PTE Academic 59, or the IB or European Baccalaureate language results. The Irish Leaving Certificate is not on the published list, so ask for a written exemption or take a test such as IELTS.

How to apply

  1. Prepare documents earlyGet an apostille on your Leaving Cert certificate and arrange a translation into English or Polish. Check with study@polsl.pl whether you need the eligibility and NAWA statements, and book an English test if they will not accept Leaving Cert English.
  2. Register on IRKCreate an account on irk.polsl.pl/en-gb, choose Informatics (in English) and pay the application fee before IRK closes. That was 30 July in 2026, and the window opened on 8 May.
  3. Sit the maths examTake the online mathematics entrance exam (EUR 4) on one of the July or August dates. You need at least 9 out of 30 correct, and you get one attempt.
  4. Confirm and enrolLeaving Cert results come out after the IRK deadline, so ask admissions how to submit them late or get a conditional place. Then pay the first-semester fee of EUR 1,680 and arrive for the start of the year on 1 October.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: 2026 cycle: applications opened 8 May 2026 and the IRK system closed on 30 July 2026. By then you must have created your account, chosen the programme and paid the fee. Online mathematics entrance exams ran in July and August 2026, with about three dates to choose from and one attempt per intake. Teaching started on 1 October 2026. Dates for 2027 entry are not yet published, so expect a similar timetable..

Costs

  • The programme page lists fees for foreign students of EUR 1,680 for the first semester, then PLN 7,292 for each later semester. That is roughly EUR 3,400 for year 1 depending on the exchange rate (our conversion). Irish citizens pay these fees: the university only waives fees for EU citizens on Polish-taught programmes, and only for those with permanent residence in Poland. The online mathematics entrance exam costs EUR 4. There is also a non-refundable application fee, but the amount is not published. It appears in the Payments tab of your IRK account.
Irish students pay fees for this English-taught course, although they are low (EUR 1,680 for the first semester). The main hurdles are the compulsory online maths exam and proof of English: the Leaving Cert is not on the university’s list of accepted English documents.
