About the course

An engineer’s degree (7 semesters) covering electronics, computer science and telecommunications, including circuit design, microprocessor systems, fibre-optic networks, 5G and IoT. It is taught in English through the International Faculty of Engineering, most classes are project- and lab-based, and there is a mobile (study-abroad) semester option.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Poland accepts school-leaving certificates from EU/OECD countries without a separate recognition decision, so the Leaving Cert counts, but you need an apostille on it. The university turns each subject grade into points on a 30-100 scale using the lowest and highest pass grades of your school system. It then weights them: Maths x6, English x2 and one extra subject x4, with advanced-level subjects counting double basic level. The university publishes no Irish conversion table, and it has not confirmed that Higher Level counts as ‘advanced’ and Ordinary Level as ‘basic’. Confirm with admissions. CAO points do not carry across.
  • Required subjects are Maths and English. The extra subject can be Physics, Information Technology (Computer Science) or a vocational diploma in electronics or a related field. The rules say English-taught programmes need at least 60% in English at advanced level. There is no interview.
  • English: the required-documents page asks for a B2 certificate from the university’s accepted list, for example IELTS 6.0, TOEFL iBT 72, Cambridge B2 First or PTE Academic 59. The Leaving Cert is not listed as an exemption, so ask admissions in writing whether Leaving Cert Higher Level English is accepted, or book a test early.

How to apply

  1. Check English and gradesAsk foreignstudents@info.p.lodz.pl whether Leaving Cert Higher Level English meets the B2 and 60% advanced-level rule and how H/O grades are converted. If not, book IELTS or a similar test.
  2. Register online and payCreate an account on the recruitment portal (apply.p.lodz.pl) and pay the 85 PLN fee. In 2026, round 1 ran 9 June to 10 July and round 2 ran 1 to 14 September.
  3. Upload results and documentsUpload your Leaving Cert results, an apostille (or proof you have applied for one) and your English certificate by the round deadline. Leaving Cert results come out in late August, so the September round may suit Irish applicants.
  4. Confirm and send originalsIf you qualify, confirm your place within the stated window and deliver the signed application and original documents to the International Cooperation Centre by late September. Studies start in October.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: 2026 entry dates (2027 not yet published). Round 1: register online and pay the fee 9 June to 10 July 2026, with results and scanned documents uploaded by 11.59pm (Polish time) on 10 July. Results out 17 July; confirm your place 17 to 20 July; send originals 20 July to 28 September. Round 2 (if places remain): register 1 to 14 September 2026, with documents uploaded by 14 September. Results out 19 September; confirm 19 to 21 September; send originals by 28 September. Studies start in October..

Costs

  • The university’s fees page says tuition for full-time studies in Polish and English is charged only to people who are not Polish citizens and are not covered by Article 324(2) of the Polish higher education law, and EU citizens are listed as exempt. Its FAQ also says EU citizens do not pay tuition. Students without the exemption pay 9,000 PLN per semester for 2026/27. There is a one-off application fee of 85 PLN per programme. Part-time students pay tuition whatever their exemption, but this is a full-time course.
Tuition is free for EU citizens, but you need an apostille on your Leaving Cert and a B2 English certificate such as IELTS 6.0, unless admissions confirm in writing that your Leaving Cert English is enough. Round 1 closes before Leaving Cert results are out, so plan for the September round or ask about conditional entry.
