About the course

A six-year (360 ECTS) dental medicine degree taught in English at the Faculty of Dental Medicine in Cluj-Napoca.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • The university assesses the Irish Leaving Certificate individually and does not publish a fixed Irish requirement. Contact admissions to confirm. Its published general criteria look at your final school-leaving average and your scores in specific subjects (biology, chemistry and physics are named), plus language certificates, relevant volunteering or work experience and recommendation letters. No weights or minimum grades are published.
  • No entrance exam and no interview: a faculty-approved commission evaluates your application file against general and faculty-specific criteria.
  • English at B2 level or above: a certificate is required unless you completed your secondary studies fully in English.

Working in Ireland afterwards

A dental degree from an EU member state that is listed in the EU Professional Qualifications Directive (2005/36/EC, as amended) can be recognised automatically by the Dental Council of Ireland. To get this, you provide a certificate from your home country’s competent authority confirming the degree meets the Directive’s minimum training conditions, plus proof of English-language proficiency. EU dental degrees that do not qualify for automatic recognition may instead be assessed under the Directive.

Costs

  • EUR 10,000 per year. The university publishes one tuition fee for international candidates, and places on the English line are fee-paying (self-paid), so expect to pay it as an EU student. There is also a non-refundable file processing fee of EUR 300, and to confirm your place you must pay half of the annual tuition, which is non-refundable. These are 2026/27 figures; 2027/28 fees were not yet published.
A dental degree from an EU member state that is listed in Directive 2005/36/EC can be recognised automatically by the Dental Council of Ireland, with a certificate from the Romanian competent authority confirming it meets the Directive’s minimum training conditions and proof of English. Check with the university whether Romanian language classes are compulsory, as they are on its English-taught Medicine programme.
