About the course

A three-year (180 ECTS) degree taught entirely in English, covering micro- and macroeconomics, European economics, international trade, international investment and multinational companies. It includes internships and the option of an Erasmus semester abroad.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • As an EU applicant you need a recognition certificate (certificate of equivalence) from CNRED, Romania’s national recognition centre, before you apply (the fee is 100 lei, it takes about 30 days, and Irish documents need an Apostille). FSEGA then ranks you on the average of your grades as converted on that certificate, so your Leaving Cert results matter directly.
  • There is also a pass/fail task: a handwritten presentation and graph of a piece of economic content chosen from the faculty’s list, dated, signed and uploaded with your application. There is no written entrance exam.
  • FSEGA’s EU admission page does not state an English test requirement. Confirm with admission@econ.ubbcluj.ro whether you need to show proof of English.

How to apply

  1. Get your CNRED recognition (spring 2027)Apply to CNRED for recognition of your Leaving Cert once your results are available. Get your documents apostilled first, and allow about 30 days.
  2. Prepare the presentationDownload the template and the list of economic topics for International Business and Economics from FSEGA’s EU admission page. Write it by hand, then date and sign it.
  3. Apply online (mid-July 2027)Upload the signed application form, your presentation, the CNRED certificate and proof of the fee payment on admitere.ubbcluj.ro. In 2026 the window was 13–17 July.
  4. Confirm your placeCheck the results (published about 20 July in 2026) and confirm your place by the deadline. If places are left, a September session follows.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Based on the 2026 cycle: online applications ran 13–17 July 2026 (the platform closed at 23:59 on 17 July). A September session for any remaining places took applications on 7–9 September 2026. The 2027 dates are not yet published. You need your CNRED recognition certificate before you apply..

Costs

  • The tuition fee for fee-paying places on FSEGA’s English-taught bachelors could not be confirmed on an official page, so check the faculty’s admission fees page. EU citizens compete for state-funded (tuition-free) places on the same terms as Romanians, but these are limited. The one-off admission fee was 400 lei in the recent cycle.
Your ranking uses your converted Leaving Cert grades on the CNRED certificate, so arrange that recognition well before the mid-July deadline. UBB does not offer a Business Administration bachelor in English: this is its English-taught international business degree.
