About the course

A three-year, full-time political science degree from UBB’s Faculty of Political, Administrative and Communication Sciences, offered in a Romanian line and an English line. This page covers the English line.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • EU citizens need the Romanian Ministry of Education (CNRED) to recognise the Leaving Certificate before applying; they then follow the same calendar and conditions as Romanian applicants. Foreign grades are converted to the Romanian scale under ministry rules. UBB does not publish how Leaving Cert grades convert, so confirm with the faculty.
  • Stage 1: a motivation letter in English, marked pass/fail, plus an English interview if you do not submit a language certificate. Stage 2: places are allocated by baccalaureate (school-leaving exam) average.
  • English: the interview checks your English. UBB’s language rules exempt diplomas from schooling done entirely in that language, so ask whether your Leaving Cert covers this.

How to apply

  1. Get the Leaving Cert recognisedApply to CNRED for recognition early. The fee is 100 lei, it takes about 30 days, and Irish documents need an Apostille.

  3. English interviewSit the English interview if you have no language certificate. Results came out on 19 July in 2026.
  4. Confirm and payFinal results were published on 30 July 2026. Confirm your place and pay the tuition fee as instructed. A September round (7-9 Sept registration in 2026) runs if places remain.

Costs

  • 5,700 lei a year (2026/27) for a full-time place, roughly €1,120 at current exchange rates. The English line had no state-funded places listed (0 state-funded, 65 fee-paying), so expect to pay. Admission fee 350 lei (60 lei processing + 290 lei registration).
All 65 places on the English line in 2026 were fee-paying, so expect about 5,700 lei a year. The Leaving Cert must be recognised by the Romanian Ministry before the July application window.
