About the course

A three-year, full-time psychology degree with a cognitive-science focus, taught in English at UBB’s Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • EU citizens need the Romanian Ministry of Education (CNRED) to recognise the Leaving Certificate before applying; they then follow the same calendar and conditions as Romanian applicants. UBB’s rules say foreign grades are converted to the Romanian grading scale under ministry rules. UBB does not publish how Leaving Cert H1-H8/O1-O8 grades are converted, so confirm this with admissions.
  • Ranking: 50% baccalaureate (school-leaving exam) average, 50% a written test of general cognitive abilities, sat in English in person in Cluj-Napoca.
  • English: the programme page does not list a separate English certificate, because the test is in English. UBB’s language rules exempt diplomas from schooling done entirely in that language. Confirm with admitere.psiedu@ubbcluj.ro whether a Leaving Cert taken in English is enough.

How to apply

  1. Get the Leaving Cert recognisedApply to CNRED for recognition as soon as results are out in August. The fee is 100 lei, it takes about 30 days, and Irish documents need an Apostille. This timing is tight for a July session.
  2. Register onlineThe 2026 July registration ran 14-18 July on UBB’s admission platform. Pay the 500 lei admission fee.
  3. Sit the written testThe general cognitive-abilities test was held in person in Cluj-Napoca on 20-21 July 2026. It counts for 50% of your score.
  4. Confirm your placeFinal results were published on 30 July 2026. Confirm your place and send original documents by the dates the faculty sets.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: 2026 cycle, July session: register 14-18 July (platform closes at 12:00), written test in person 20-21 July, final results 30 July. A September session (register 7-8 Sept, test 10 Sept, final results 16 Sept) only runs if places are left; in September 2026 no places were left on the English line. Expect similar July 2027 dates; check once published..

Costs

  • 5,750 lei a year (2026/27) for a full-time fee-paying place, roughly €1,130 at current exchange rates. EU/EEA citizens pay the same fees as Romanians and can compete for state-funded (free) places on the same terms. Admission fee 500 lei (150 lei processing + 350 lei registration).
Admission runs in July and needs the Leaving Cert already recognised by the Romanian Ministry (CNRED). Irish students taking the Leaving Cert in June 2027 should talk to UBB early about whether they can make that timeline.
