About the course

A five-year pharmacy degree taught in English in Iasi. There is no entrance exam. Applicants are scored on their school record and supporting documents and must pass a short online interview.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • The university assesses the Irish Leaving Certificate individually and does not publish a fixed Irish requirement. Contact admissions to confirm. Evaluators score your file using the university’s evaluation grid, which is based mainly on your school grades. The earlier check also found points for previous degrees, volunteering and recommendation letters, but this could not be re-confirmed. Students finishing school in the year they apply can send a school completion certificate instead of the diploma.
  • No entrance exam. Every applicant must pass an online interview of up to 10 minutes. It is pass/fail and cannot be appealed.
  • English at B2 level or higher is required, but the 2026/27 methodology lists Ireland among the English-speaking countries whose citizens do not need a language certificate.

Working in Ireland afterwards

A pharmacy degree from an EU/EEA member state that fully meets the Directive 2005/36/EC minimum training requirements (Article 44) can be recognised automatically. If you started your studies before the Directive’s reference date, you also need 3 consecutive years of professional experience within the last 5 years. Recognition is step one and PSI registration is step two: recognition alone does not let you practise, and you must also prove competence in English. EU law allows countries to limit EU-qualified pharmacists from running newly opened pharmacies, and we could not confirm on the PSI website whether Ireland does this. If you plan to be the supervising or superintendent pharmacist in a pharmacy, check with the PSI.

How to apply

  1. Prepare documentsGather certified copies of your school transcripts, your birth certificate, passport pages, a medical certificate and the other documents the methodology lists. Irish school documents do not need an apostille, because the 2026/27 methodology exempts EU member states other than Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal and Cyprus.
  2. Apply onlineUpload your file on registration.umfiasi.ro and pay the EUR 200 processing fee. In 2026 the window ran from 1 March to 25 May.
  3. Online interviewBook your online interview (6 to 9 June in 2026). Interviews ran from 10 to 19 June, last up to 10 minutes and are pass/fail.
  4. Confirm your placeIf you are on the final list (22 June in 2026), pay 2/3 of the annual fee by 7 July, then upload your diploma and pay the rest by 20 July. Register in late September.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: 2026 cycle (2027 dates not yet published): applications ran from 1 March to 25 May 2026. Rankings came out on 2 June, interview scheduling ran from 6 to 9 June and online interviews from 10 to 19 June. The final admission list was published on 22 June. 2/3 of the fee was due between 23 June and 7 July, and the diploma upload and full payment were due by 20 July 2026. First-year registration began on 21 September 2026. Expect similar timing for 2027 entry, but confirm with the university..

Costs

  • The last Pharmacy fee we could confirm is EUR 7,500 per year (2025/26). The 2026/27 Pharmacy fee is not shown on the 2026 admissions page, which lists EUR 9,000 a year only for Medicine and Dental Medicine. The 2026/27 fee schedule is a separate document, so confirm the current Pharmacy fee with the university. In first year you secure your place by paying 2/3 of the fee soon after the final admission list is published (23 June to 7 July in the 2026 cycle). The rest is due by 20 July. The 2026/27 methodology sets a EUR 200 application processing fee, and the admissions page lists a 230 RON enrolment fee, paid when you register. The same foreign-currency route applies to EU (non-Romanian) and non-EU citizens.
A pharmacy degree from an EU country that fully meets the Directive 2005/36/EC minimum training requirements can be recognised automatically. Recognition alone does not let you practise: you must also register with the PSI and prove your competence in English. Students in the English section may also have to learn Romanian (for example, to reach a set level before a later year of study). Ask the university about this before you accept a place.
