It ends with a thesis in biomedicine.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • University Admissions in Sweden accepts the Leaving Certificate for general entry if you took at least six subjects, with at least two at Higher Level. Predicted grades are not accepted; places are ranked on final grades. The university publishes nothing Ireland-specific, so confirm your subject match with University Admissions.
  • Specific requirements: Mathematics 2a, 2b or 2c, Science studies 2 or Biology 1 and Chemistry 1, and English 6. University Admissions decides whether your Leaving Cert maths, biology and chemistry meet these. Selection is 67% on grades and 33% on the Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test (SweSAT), which is optional and taken in Swedish.
  • English: a Leaving Cert English result of Ordinary Level grade O6 (or D) or better meets the English 6 requirement.

How to apply

  1. Check requirementsBefore October 2026, check with University Admissions that your Leaving Cert maths, biology and chemistry meet the Mathematics 2 and science requirements.
  2. Apply onlineBetween 16 October 2026 and 15 January 2027, apply at universityadmissions.se using code HS-71235 (or apply in a later cycle after your results, e.g. in a gap year).
  3. Upload documentsBy 1 February 2027, upload your final Leaving Cert results and a copy of your passport or ID card as proof of EU citizenship.
  4. Results and startAdmission results are published on 8 April 2027; the programme runs 30 August 2027 to 9 June 2030.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Autumn 2027 international round at universityadmissions.se (application code HS-71235): opens 16 October 2026, closes 15 January 2027; documents due 1 February 2027; results 8 April 2027. The national round closes 15 April 2027. Both close before Leaving Cert results are issued in late August, so most Irish school-leavers apply after receiving results..

Costs

  • No tuition fee and no application fee for EU/EEA citizens, including Irish citizens. The published fee of SEK 465,000 for the whole programme (first instalment SEK 77,500) applies only to non-EU/EEA students. You must upload a copy of your passport or ID card as proof of citizenship by the document deadline.
This is a non-clinical biomedical science degree, not medicine or a professional clinical qualification. Places are ranked on final grades only, so most Irish students apply after receiving their Leaving Cert results.
