About the course

A three-year, 180-credit programme taught in English that combines forestry science and landscape architecture, with fieldwork and excursions. Year 1 covers the fundamentals, year 2 interdisciplinary management planning, and in year 3 you specialise in forestry or landscape architecture, graduating with a BSc majoring in Forestry Science or Landscape Architecture.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • University Admissions in Sweden accepts the Leaving Certificate for general entry if you took at least six subjects, with at least two at Higher Level. Only final results count: predicted grades are not accepted. Places are ranked on final grades.
  • Specific entry requirements are written as Swedish courses: Mathematics 2a/2b/2c, Natural Sciences 2 and Social Sciences 1b (or 1a1 + 1a2). University Admissions decides whether your Leaving Cert maths, science and social science subjects and their levels match these. It does not publish an exact Irish equivalent, so confirm with University Admissions or SLU before applying.
  • English: Leaving Cert English at Ordinary Level grade 6 (O6), or D under the old grading, or better meets the English 6 requirement.

How to apply

  1. Check the requirementsMake sure your Leaving Cert (six subjects, two at Higher Level) covers the maths, science and social science requirements. If you are unsure, ask University Admissions.
  2. Apply onlineApply at universityadmissions.se between 16 October 2026 and 15 January 2027, using application code 91003. Because predicted grades are not accepted, most school-leavers apply the year after getting their results, for example after a gap year.
  3. Upload documentsBy 1 February 2027, upload your final Leaving Cert results and a copy of your passport or ID card as proof of EU citizenship.
  4. Results and startAdmission results come out on 8 April 2027. Accept your place, then arrange housing in the Malmö/Lund area before the programme starts at Alnarp on 30 August 2027.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: International admission round for autumn 2027 on universityadmissions.se (application code 91003): opens 16 October 2026, closes 15 January 2027. Supporting documents, including proof of citizenship, are due by 1 February 2027. Results come out on 8 April 2027. The second round runs from 15 March to 15 April 2027, but Leaving Cert results arrive after both deadlines. The programme starts on 30 August 2027..

Costs

  • No tuition fee and no application fee for Irish and other EU/EEA citizens. The fee SLU lists (SEK 86,000 for the first semester, SEK 516,000 in total) applies only to non-EU/EEA and non-Swiss students. You must upload a copy of your passport or ID card as proof of EU citizenship by the document deadline.
Tuition is free for EU citizens, but you can only apply with your final Leaving Cert results, so in practice you will apply the year after you sit the exams. The course is at the Alnarp campus, not at SLU’s main campus in Uppsala.
