About the course

A three-year, 180 ECTS academic bachelor in business and economics, also delivered in full in English. In the English version you can specialise in International Business, Marketing or Tourism. Double-degree agreements exist with partner schools including Audencia, KEDGE and Pforzheim University.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • The University of Ljubljana recognises your Leaving Certificate itself. The eVŠ application also serves as your recognition application. You upload a copy of your certificates, with a translation into English or Slovene, plus a record of your education. Ireland is a Hague Convention country, so you only need an Apostille if the university cannot verify your documents directly with the issuer. The faculty publishes no subject or grade rule specific to the Leaving Cert, so ask recognition@uni-lj.si how your H and O grades will be converted.
  • When there are more applicants than places, the faculty ranks them. For Slovenian Matura holders it uses 60% final exam results and 40% average of the 3rd and 4th years. There is no entrance test or interview. The top 40 Slovenian applicants go into the English version.
  • English at B2 is required. The faculty accepts a school-leaving certificate that shows English was completed as a subject, so a Leaving Cert that includes English should qualify. Otherwise it accepts a B2 certificate such as TOEFL iBT 72-93. Confirm with admissions before booking a test.

How to apply

  1. Prepare documentsIn late 2026, gather your Junior and Leaving Cert documents and any translations, and fill in the chronological record of your education. Keep an Apostille in mind in case the university asks for one.
  2. Apply on eVŠSubmit the application, which is also your recognition request, in the first period. The 2026 dates were 18 February to 18 March. Choose the English version, which is capped at 120 places.
  3. Send final resultsUpload your Leaving Cert results as soon as they come out in August, so the university can finish recognition and ranking. Confirm the exact deadline with admission@uni-lj.si.
  4. Confirm fees and enrolGet written confirmation of whether the €3,400 English-version fee applies to you as an EU citizen, then complete enrolment for the October start.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: 2026 cycle: first application period 18 February to 18 March 2026; second application period 20 to 27 August 2026. The 2027 dates are not yet published, so expect similar ones. Apply in the first period, because the English version is limited to 120 places..

Costs

  • The School of Economics and Business price list for 2026/27 says that if a student enrols in the English-language version of the programme, the tuition fee is €3,400 for the year. You can pay it in full before enrolment (5% discount) or in three instalments. Every student also pays a study contribution of €61.60 a year. The University of Ljubljana’s central fees page says EU citizens pay no tuition for full-time bachelor study, and neither page says whether the €3,400 applies to EU citizens. Confirm in writing with the faculty or admission@uni-lj.si before you budget. No application fee is published.
The main application period closes in March, months before Leaving Cert results come out, so apply early. Ask in writing whether the €3,400 English-version fee applies to EU citizens, because the university’s central policy says EU students study full-time free of tuition.
